The London Group at Bankside is one of the group’s most ambitious exhibitions to date and promises to be a highlight in its eventful 109 year history.
With the new President – the award-winning artist film-maker Amanda Loomes – the Group is enjoying a palpable resurgence of creative energy and enthusiasm. Eighty of the members will be showing over 150 extraordinarily fresh, challenging and powerful works.
The London Group at Bankside will also be an opportunity to commemorate and show the work of late and much-missed members, Janet Nathan, Arthur Wilson and Dame Paula Rego.
A unique strength of the Group is that it continues to function without any dogma. All mediums, whether traditional or recent, are encouraged and supported. Reflecting this, the exhibition features a dedicated booth showing members’ films and video work on a large screen, along with seating for viewers.
The London Group’s success is due to the loyalty, determination and love of art shared by its members, not least by previous and longest-serving President, Susan Haire who generously devoted herself to the Group from 2007 to 2021.
